Caryll is a jewel in the rough
I've heard that swimming can help with some cases. Also, a friend of mine tried massage, which seemed to help a little.

Has your vet recommended anything?

blackdogs will become famous soon enough
Have you had your dog diagnose properly by the vet, i ask this because 2 yrs ago i was told by my new vet that Chevy had CDRM and 2 yrs on Chevy still has full use of his hind quarters, at the time he was diagnosed i had been unable to give the regular amount of exercise and this had caused looseness in his hips, chevy is Dysplastic
Have you thought about a ostiopath, one of my old dogs had CDRM, and my own ostiopath took an intrest in him, he would massage and gave him homeopathic pills, can't rember what they were but it did help my boy.

I don't really have any info on CDRM as such but I do sympathise as we lost our last GSD Nelson to this. Unfortunately for us it was a very quick from full diagnosis (April '07) to the difficult decision that comes to us all (June '07). Looking back if it had been diagnosed a bit earlier I think that towel walking and swimming would have had a positive effect but, for us anyway, it was too far gone and his quality of life was completely compromised.

Is your GSD insured? Nels did have an MRI to ascertain the degree of CDRM and at the initial consulation we were advised that doggy wheels could be an option if it wasn't too far gone. As I said earlier for us it wasn't an option as he was too far along, wasn't himself, in pain and not the boy that we knew, but maybe for you it could be something looked into.
