not happy with walks

Gypsy at the moment is not to happy when we go for a walk , she seems to be panting a lot and slows right down to a plod , head goes down and she seems unintrested in where we go, I have dropped her walk down to her pace and try to keep her on soft grass rather than on hard surface to help her joints and I have shortened her walk to 5 / 10 minute short walks a few times a day But in the house she is a nutter runing around , playing with her toys and in general full of her selve , but she still pants alot and to add she now gets really stressed when the washing machine starts to spin to the point she hides in the bathroom I hate to see the signs of age creeping in but I think thats what it is how quick the years have gone from pup to a senior old lady BLESS HERE

Aw Colleen, it's awful when they start to show their age. How old is Gypsy now?

Our dogs should be as long lived as we are, it is so unfair that they age before we do. Maybe she is feeling the cold in her bones, as she seems unaffected in the house. You may find she perks up when the weather gets a bit warmer.

Give her a big hug from me.

Wooferhound is on a distinguished road
I'm so sorry to hear about Gypsy, the poor girl! It's so hard...for them and us!

She sounds like a minx at home, at least she has the 'want' to interact and play! The answer might just be...don't do the washing!

Thanks both, it is sad to see her like this in such a short space of time and I am going to get her checked at vets if it continues ,she was ten in july and had the all clear health wise at her check up no sign of cancer coming back, but im sure they said she had a slight heart murmour which is in the back of my mind, but like I said she is great when at home o/h says im worrying to much may be I am but it is coming up to the time of year when I lost mick so maybe Im more aware of things and how quick they can go down hill
But on the brightside she still chases the cats, barks like mad at the postman, chews the letters if she can get them, eats like a horse, sleeps like a angel and snores louder than my o/h xx

Quote:
One of the main signs of aging in dogs is the lack of physical energy. Dogs slow down as they grow older. They will rest and sleep more than they ever did before. Because of this decrease in activity, your dog may have less of an appetite. You may also notice that your older dog doesn’t see or hear as well as he once did. Just like people, dogs can act grumpy and old age can make them even grumpier. Older dogs can also feel more vulnerable and startle easily by sudden movements or loud noises.
