Caryll is a jewel in the rough
I think the RSPCA are expecting too much. Crufts coverage is hardly likely to say "Of course 90% of the dogs on display here are unhealthy and unhappy".

The dog world, led by the Kennel Club, is trying to address the health issues prevalent in today's pedigree dogs - they can't do it overnight.

Jude is on a distinguished road
The RSPCA need to get off their bums and help deal with real animal cruelty rather than writing stuffy letters to the KC, who are well aware of the problems inherent in many breeds and are trying to do something about it - in fact short of banning some breeds from Crufts there is not a lot more that they can do.

Absolutely. The RSPCA have a reputation for ignoring some of the more difficult calls (too far away, too small an animal, too difficult to catch etc) - maybe they should look at improving their own reputation before running others down!

Me neither. No wonder their donations have dropped over the last few years - they're hypocrits!

I wouldn't ever donate to them, I find their staff really rude at our local rescue centre and I would never re-home a dog from there.....can't stand them!

"It is extremely misleading to suggest not only that the problems have been solved after only two years, but that pedigree dogs are happy and healthy. "

I hope all the people who own pedigree dogs (most of the members of this forum I imagine) realise that their dogs are regarded by the RSPCA as being "unhappy and unhealthy".

So all our dogs are both unhappy and unhealthy!!!

Seriously, I don't like the way the RSPCA are trying to demonise 'pedigree' dogs - makes me wonder where they are heading with this, maybe to ban all breeding of pedigree dogs?
