I support Oscars Law over here. I regularly go into pet shops over here that sell puppies and take photographs of those with messy cages, no water etc. These pups are kept in these perspex cages until they are sold
When staff members ask me if they can help me I ask where the puppies come from and they tell me "reputable breeders" at which point I tell them that reputable breeders do not sell to pet stores and I loudly tell everyone in the pet shop that no doubt I will end up fostering one or more of these dogs when they end up in the pound.
I also always report the pet shops to the local council when the puppies don't have water etc. I've found the health and saftey people best to phone if there's a crack in the perspex cage as occupational health and safety seems more important than the welfare of an animal.
Never, ever let the UK sink to these levels - puppies being sold in pet shops in shopping malls is so awful and there are so many impulse purchases and the plight of the dogs in the puppy farms is heart-breaking.
