Thumbs down Bloody Spammers

Due to a huge deluge in Spam across a huge range of forums being reported, we have added a preventative step to our registration process.

When you register with mygermanshepherd, we already make people confirm their email address and pass a Captcha image verification. As well as this all new members have all their first 2 posts scanned through an Anti Spam database, to check for spam keywords, text, etc. However, it would appear that spammers or bots, have found a way of beating the Captcha option, and so we have now added a very simple question, whereby you would have to answer this before registration would be allowed.

Although this captures a huge volume of spam like activities, it is not fool proof, so we would appreciate it if members who are reading our forums, report any posts that seem spam like. Once reported, an email is sent to the Admins, and the Moderators, for them to act on. If the post is deemed to be spam, we would normally move or delete this post out of the public forums.

To report a post, please use the Report a Post icon, and then fill out a brief explanation.

We have had no alternative but to block users who register with an @gmail email address. We appreciate that some of our current members maybe using an @gmail account, but the amount of work that this is causing us, is an absolute nightmare, and we have taken steps to ensure that those of you already registered with an @gmail email address, are not affected.

apparently it is very high tech, they program a computer pinching peoples email address and then sign in.............very scary and even more scary reading your post on the other site about fraud...............some people need to get a life, My o/h spent most of last night watching the forums...............

seems to have worked by changing the settings..........he has done something cos the forum has loads of new things and no new registrations in the last few hours, 150 people in 2hrs signed up............

*hope you get everything sorted out mel*
