Advice please

Hi,
I've not been on here for ages but I'm desperate for some advice zena is just shy of 10 months now she has been fed on royal canin since day one and although she's never been one to gobble her food we've never had any problems... For the last month she's totally gone off her food and it's just getting worse for the last week she's surviving on half portions if that, we've tried everything to make it more appetising but she's just not interested she's ok in herself and still doing fine on her walks she's a very soppy laid back dog who plays with my kids all day so it's hard to know if she's less energetic during the day... It's starting to concern me now and was wondering if anyone can suggest another good dry food as debating a big change...
Hope to hear from you all soon...
Mel and zena

Thanks ever so much for your reply we've not had her spayed as we were advised to give her one season, I have taken her to the vets as she seemed to have two seasons one from the 24th November until the 10th December and then again December 26th till the 14th of January which concerned me as she was so miserable hence me allowing her to be off her food so much but they just didn't seem bothered I suppose I must take her back but was looking at all other options first :0) I'll keep you updated with what they say...

Sounds like a split season, apparently they're not uncommon. Tilly has developed an allergy, vet thinks it's her food. We've always bought the best we can afford, Eukanuba breed specific. Now we've changed to Science Plan, seems to be ok, everything crossed

It's worth trying something else, but introduce the change gradually xxx

GSDs can be picky. I tried everything to get my lot to eat, including adding home-cooked mince to their Arden Grange etc.
Now I feed Raw. End of problem. I chuck food down. They eat it.

I feed Fish4Dogs and even my picky GSD eats it. Used to feed Origen before but Summer messed around with that. Put a large tin of pilchards in tomato sauce divided between the three of them on top and they wolf it down.
My latest GSD Summer started off on Royal Canin but got very picky with that.
I have also managed to put weight on her with the Fish4Dogs which is a bonus.

Hello Mel, Some dogs can go off dry food - but have you tried adding some raw tripe mince to the food? Very few dogs can resist tripe. You can purchase large frozen packs of ready minced tripe. Just defost an amount for each day.

All the best,
Bruin
