Another question
Can anyone tell me at what age gsd stop growing ? My girl is 20 months old and tips the scales at 36kg, she doesn't look at all overweight, but when you see her up against other shepherds she looks quite small. Not that it matters cause we lover to bits anyway, i'm just wondering weather she is going to get any bigger at her age.
Sorry about all the questions but this is our first gsd.....

Ask as many questions as you want, no-one minds
Diesel is 4 only weighs in at 34-35Kg but he's quite tall.....I was told they grow until 18 months and then fill out which Diesel did.

Yup, generally Shepherds take up until around 18 months to fully mature physically, then fill out as Lynn says, this can then take another 18 months or so. Again, generally they are fully matured by the time they are 3 years.
Roo is just over a year and weighs in at 33kg, she has a way to go yet!

I have noticed that she is starting to fill out a little, i suppose being short haired makes her look a bit smaller too

I think it depends on lines, the english lines tend to be taller and heavier
my oldest bitch eris is 26 1/2 inches tall and weighs in at aroud 45 kilos
she is a solid built girl not at all overweight.
if you dog looks ok then i wouldnt worry

An adult bitch of European lines should be approx 55 cm to 60 cm high at the withers and weigh approx 22-32KG.
The German Shepherd Dog typically reaches physical adulthood at 18-24 months of age, with some Eastern European bloodlines maturing even more slowly, sometimes not until 36+ months of age. However one would expect to see the rate of growth slow demonstrably after about 6 months of age, with minimal weight gain after 12 months of age in the appropriately maintained dog.
Can you feel her bones? as you should be able to feel the bone structure but not see it.

My opinion is that she sounds completly normal, & a good weight for her age. Its best to keep the weight down on a Shepherd, ( I dont mean underweight) their bones dont need the added pressure.
I hope that makes sense.
Regards.
