Chewing Her Feet
Hi to all GSD Fans !!!to introduce myself
I am now on my third GSD ,this one is now four yrs old and an intact female ,and as sharp as one would like her to be.But the big
But she is driving me nuts chewing and licking between the pads on her feet.I have tried drying the feet and any other method I can to stop her doing it.
Is it just habit?
Is it allergy?
If anyone can shed some light on this ,I would be grateful.
Has anyone else encountered such behaviour !!
Are we talking a Vet only job.
Thanks Folks

Hi - it maybe worth a visit to the vet. Maybe she's allergic to something. Is he flead regularly? One of mine chews their feet if you let them but its to do with an overall skin condition and allergies - which I wouldn't have known if I hadn't have gone to the vet. All the natural pills and potions I have ever tried have not worked. I have a regime to follow for mine.

There is always a cause for it, but it can certainly become a habit, we have had it happen and a course of steroids have done the trick.
Google thornit, we alway keep this in it works brilliant on feet.

Yes the two normaly go hand in hand, thats were thornit is brilliant, it is for the ears, but if you put a small bit of thornit in a plastic bag, put the dogs foot into the bag thats the easiest way to do it.

Chewing the feet
Hi Guys
I took her to the vet who prescribed a hormone spray cortovance for the feet and under the chin also.
It was described as an allergy to something ,unknown at this time .So Its wait and see time ,at great expense yet again!!!.
The flea treatment has now beenn recommende for all the year every month...

It could be a yeast infection, this is very common inbetween their toes.
How is she going on now ?

Hi Jenny
The chewing of the feet has almost stopped,I put a quick squirt on each foot first thing in the morning ,and the chewing has almost stopped completely. She still appears to be sensitive to something ,sometimes having a good back leg scratch of her side and under her mouth.
Progressing
All the best

Hi Trevor, its good to hear that the chewing has almost stopped.
It can get so distressing seeing them eat themselves away hey.
You'll get there.
