RAw Fish Diet
Sorry another question on raw, I have a young bitch, who has just had blood tests for food intolerance tests.
She cant have any meat, oats, maize, cows milk and potato.
Can have fish, pasta, rice and veg.
So have looked at dry food, via vets which is very expensive and other foods. So was wondering as never done raw, can you give them a raw fish diet, vet not keen on it, wants her to go on dry @ £68.00 (14kg bag)

I am going through a smiliar situation with my male GSD, he's been recommended as having a prescription diet which I would rather not feed him. Instead I have chosen to feed him Orijen fish, this is a complete dry food, yes it's not cheap but I found this easier than raw.
I'm sure someone else will be on to help about the raw question but my only concern is would she be getting the right balance if only fed fish?

Ah ok, such a shame about Orijen then. JWB is a good food though

I've only heard of fish diets being used short term as an exclusion diet, I'm not sure how balanced it would be longterm.
I would join the Yahoo group "BritBarf" and see what advice you get there. Perhaps raw meat would be better tolerated, especially if she goes on an exclusion diet for a while to give her body a little rest. I'm no expert on intolerances or allergies though. BritBarf was composing a list a while ago on vets that supported raw feeding so might be worth seeing if there's one nearby you could get advice from.

Axel's always been on Wainwright's Salmon (but it has potato) dry puppy food, and we get it from PAH, (£31.99 for 15 kgs). But they do other varieties so might be worth a look. He has two meals a day of 300g each and a bag last him a month. I have only just started giving him some raw fish, and eggs, but not as main source of nutrients, more just supplements.

I feed raw fish a lot, many meals are Salmon,... but although I can tell you that your dogs would love it, and it probably would do them good, I dont know your dogs medical condition...I have no idea about a long term fish only diet,..I dont think it would be a balanced diet.
But it is possible that many of your dogs meals could be raw fish cutting down on your bills,.. but you would have to research the other half of the diet, in order to get the balance right
