Purina Pro Plan
Hi, anyone using Purina Proplan Large Breed Puppy food? This is the one used by our breeder and I was wondering if it is any good? Also, any tips on weaning our puppy from this particular brand and introducing a new brand, if we decide to do so? Waht food do you use? Thanks

I'm not sure what Purina is like tbh, my EBT is on Arden Grange and my GSD is on Oirjen 6Fish, which he loves. He's had a few tummy troubles so I'm hoping this is the answer for him.
I weaned Diesel off AG and onto Orijen quite quick cos he had loose stools anyway but you should just add some of the new food in gradually over 2 weeks, this is what I've always done and not had any problems.

I think hun, the general rule of thumb with complete foods is the less ingredients the better, that way what you have in there should be of a better quality.
I'm a raw feeder but its not for everyone, however I believe Orijen and Burns are very popular and good quality foods.

Proplan is quite popular with GSD breeders as they do a very good Breeder Puppy Plan, if she has been brought up on this and thriving why do you want to change if it is suiting the puppy

I swapped Ellie over a span off a week, normally I would choose to take a little longer but I couldn't source her old food locally but Ellie didn't experience any problems doing it this way..
As to which brand, really depends on 3 factors, your pocket, dog liking it, and how well the dogs does on it..
I actually feed my two on wagg with a very small amount of tinned meat, they both doing fine on it no tummy upsets, coats nice and shinny etc...
I had to visit the rspca concerning a querry about Jones vacinations the other week, They were impressed with how well and healthy Jones (and Ellie) looked Emma asked what I had been doing as in her opinion Jones coat looked so much better than when he was with them... So well chuffed

As Joyce put it : if your pup is thriving why change ?
