Archie usually gets whole cannon bones from cattle. He loves them, and they're huge.

Please just be aware that the dog does run the risk of chipping his/her teeth on these large weight bearing bones.
Personaly I wouldnt give those type, but prefer to give a bone of less density, that they can chew and digest better

My two get raw lambs ribs & necks every day. I started to give raw chicken wings/carcasses but had to stop as they are both chicken intolerant - Dempsey more than Pneuma. I've never given the large, weight bearing bones as they're just too hard & can chip teeth.

On the other hand I have always given my dogs (Rottweilers, GSD and border collies) large weight bearing bones and have never (and I am now the wrong side of 60!) had a dog with chipped teeth - in fact all my dogs have had superb teeth, even when well into their dotage, and have never needed any vet attention for teeth.

My butcher just gave me a stack of beef ribs. I'm not too sure if they are ok.

Sally will be fine, but i know Merlin will just bite right into them. What do you guys think?

The only bones I've seen splinter have been cooked ones or old ones.

Beef ribs should be fine unless your dog has an intolerance to beef as it's high in protein. It doesn't matter if your dog bites right into them as long as they don't try to swallow too large pieces. I find that once the dog is used to being given raw bones daily they chew them properly & don't try to swallow very large pieces.

All raw bones should have plenty of meat left on them.

We give ours lamb rib bones.

Marrow bones - Remus loved them but gave him really bad squits. Not straightaway either. It makes me gag just remembering that!
