Thumbs up A load of tripe!

My butcher gave me some beef tripe for the dogs to try the other day. Straight out of the cow, it reeked I soaked it in a bucket of water to clean it off then cut it in half and gave half to Remus and Zee with some chicken wing tips. By, it's tough! Even using a sharp knife with a serrated edge i had a job cutting it.

But they loved it! Zee chomped it down first. Remus ate his chickie wings and saved the tripe til last, then shook it vigorously before eating it, to make sure it was dead... later I found bits of green tripe stuck to the porch ceiling. Nice.

Anyway I now have a tripe supplier. He has 5 GSDs and feeds them raw. He's getting me some lamb tripe next week for free! Really pleased. My butcher is a

Anyone else feed it?

These are washed apparently, unlike the beef sample. The guy's not slaughtering many cattle at the moment but he's a lot of sheep ones. Would one stomach do two day's intake of food then Pam?

If they are sheep and not lamb yes, these are washed you get the odd bit of partly digested grass in them though.
Be carefull though they fattening, but if you are currently working your two then that wont be a problem lol

Yes, you'll have to watch their weight, but dogs generally really love them.

You can get frozen minced tripe - doesn't smell as much & you can pretend it isn't what it is!

I feed it just about every day. Dempsey (and Pneuma when she was here) has a meaty bone for late breakfast/lunch and his evening meal is normally tripe. A couple of days a week he gets heart or kidney (won't touch liver).
