Poo

Dont be put off by the subject to this new thread , it's just that I would like to know how often should a puppy poo each day and how much? Ours seems to poo within half hour after each meal, which is fine as she is regular like clockwork, but there is a lot of it and I was wondering whether she should poo almost as much as the quantity she eats?! She is on Proplan Large Breed Athletic Puppy by the way.

Sounds about right. The amount will depend on what she's being fed. When I fed dry or tinned food there seemed to be mountains of poo. Now I feed raw there doesn't seem to be anywhere near as much, probably only about a third at a guess (never weighed it or anything!).

Must admit, that's something I've never had on the scales!

I suppose I could just hold one in each hand & balance them out, but even then.................

i was told that if a dog poo's mountains then its either on the wrong food, or having to much of it. Dog poo is waste, or surplus to requirement, which means its either something the dog doesnt need or its getting to much of it. i can vouch for this as Sam used to poo mountains when on pedigree chum this is because its full of fats, or indigestible substances. We feed Sam on royal canin GSD breed. and within days they went from runny mount everist type poos to small solid poo.

Research the correct daily amount for the age / size of your dog, and ensure that you are on the right brand. honestly speaking quality over quantity everyday.... i had Sam on science plan as a pup, and now as an adult royal canin. Also expect runny poos is you are on wet. we use dry, plus some raw some of the time.

hope this helps.

I would agree with this, Oscar was eating way too much when I took him on and I just cut back and saw a huge difference on his 'output'...lol
