Always hungry

Hi, Happy Christmas everyone.

Just a query re hunger. Kenzi 'always' seems to be hungry! Maybe I am too soft but it does make me wonder. She is on an extra 100gms a day of RC junior kibble, she loves it and wolfs it down. She does 3 or 4 poos a day and I have read that if they are large? she may be passing too much food through her system rather than getting nutrition? Her weight is good for her size (7 months - 26Kg) and you can feel her ribs and she looks good. The vet said on the last visit to keep her food up as it was working well (she was slightly underweight a couple of months ago). She is not an outside dog so its not a cold calorie burning thing. Her morning poos are always good then in the afternoon they get a bit soft.Should we consider changing the food?

A healthy dog should always be hungry! The fact that her poos are softer later in the day may well be because she is getting more food than her digestive system can cope with but if she is putting on weight I would not worry unduly. They do seem to go through more hungry phases, probably when they have a growth spurt, and then level out again. How many times a day is she fed?

Still feeding 3 times a day? Just felt this was better as she so looks forward to her food! And we can live with it as one of us is always here.

Try to give him some heavy food to eat like boiled chicken and meat and allow the dog to play as much as he can in the garden.
