Feeding help please

My Tara really is fed up with her dry food ( or playing up lol )

What age is correct to start raw feeding and what quantity's
i have searched and got good ideas what to feed her but I am unsure on the number of meal times and the amount of raw food to give.

Tara was born 27th Aug last year, she is my angel and I want to be perfect for her, if anyone can give me like a weeks raw diet plan or any good advice
regards food I really would appreciate it.

I am not too bothered ( I hope this doesn't come accross smug ) about cheap cuts or bargains I will get the meat whatever from the butcher I would buy for myself, just not sure what to get. She is on Royal Canine now but just sniffs it and gives me aww daddy puppy eyes.

There has been loads of threads on raw feeding, just do a search and you should find what you are looking for

I really wish I could stomach raw feeding but I just cant do it Bonnie is sooooooooo fussy. She totally plays up to me as she knows I will give in and give her something good. I have been battleing her feeding for what feels like forever with dry, I have recently changed to a new brand in the hopes she will take to this one but so far its not going well (however she does have an ear infection so aybe just off her food due that ATM)

Good luck, hpe you find what you are looking for

When you all talk about feeding your dogs dry, do you mean you literally just give them dry bikkies?

BEFORE ANYONE HAS A GO, I'm just curious

Mine have dry, but with a bit of something tasty mixed in. Just dry must be soooo boring, like eating a ham sandwich everyday forever

What about dry with a bit of mackerel/tuna/pilchard/dog food ?

Bonnie was on PAH large breed puppy and ate it no probs with some hot water in, then she got fussy and wouldnt eat so we changed the flavour which she ate again no prbs. She got picky again so I put tinned puppy meat in it, again she ate it for a while no probs.

She seems to get bored with it really quickly! So I started putting tasty bits in like chicken, carrots, lamb < (frozen stuff for dogs), sardines and many more others. At first she ate it then slowly ate less and less of the dry stuff and nosed it out the way to get to the good bits I added.

I changed to Wainwrights the other day and she ate the 1st meal put to her, next morning - no chance! Tried it with hot water and she ate it but only with some encouragment Im at my wits end with her eating habits

Sorry to crash your thread

You're spoiling her

'ooooh mumsie, don't fancy veggies today can I have lamb cutlets? PPPLLLEEEEEEZZZZZE OOOOH MMUUUMMMM'

I've got 2 the same, but they've realised that if they don't like what's on the menu today, then they don't eat till tomorrow

Tracey you are so right, I spoil her way too much, food wise! I just want her to eat I have tried giving her the food and if she doesnt eat it then tough she eats the next day, we went a few days like this without eating and so I gave in and gave her something else bad bad mummy lol

Ill stick with it, in time im sure she will realise she is healthy enough anyway

I know it's a horrid feeling when they won't eat + I used to cave in. But I'm now thinking I've paid a fortune for what I think is the best food for them, they love it, but sometimes won't eat

Someone said on another thread (sorry can't remember who it was ) they do regulate their intake, mine usually have main meal in the evening + a bit of brekkie. Sometimes they skip brekkie, or one will skip it. Tilly's breeder sometimes skips a day with Tilly's mum, it's all trial + error

We're not bad mummies, just easily led + manipulated by naughty babies

Ooo Ooo Oooooo! My pup is the same age, about 5 months and I was thinking about moving him to Barf too! I had a good old search on t'interweb, and found the following links which I thought were interesting (I hope I'm allowed to post them, they are external)

Landywood Pet Foods : Home

I especially like this one - good to see how other people do it (pictures of heart etc being cut up in case you're squeamish!)
Blended Veggies & Meat for the BARF Diet (WARNING GORY PICS!) - Pet Forums Community

BARF Diet

Everyone seems to recommend a book called ‘The Barf Diet’ (ISBN 0 958 592 1 9) by Dr Ian Billinghurst. So I've ordered it off Amazon so I can educate myself before I jump in with both feet. So much to learn... no broccoli, no pork, freeze all meat and defrost before feeding... To make it more complicated, my mum is very squeamish and could never even pick up liver, tripe or heart, let alone prepare it, so it means being thoroughly organised and making sure she has Mav's meals ready to feed. Organisation is not my strong point!
Mav at the moment is on Wagg- purely on recommendation from people I know or work with who have GSDs and say that their dogs love it and they are great condition whilst on it. Another plus side is it's cheap. However, although it has no artifical shizzle in it, it's still not exactly meaty. Maverick loves it, and it's very convenient. But his poo is too sloppy. I want to give him food that he loves, which is varied and that he values. In a way, if this makes sense, I am glad I put him on Wagg because he is the picture of health, but I feel like he has 'grown out of it' and it is time to change.
