Boiled chicken and rice.

My two are currently on this due to having a wee bug. The problem is Braeden isn`t enjoying the bland diet at the moment and I`m worried he isn`t get enough nutrition but I`m happy that he IS drinking and IS passing urine.

Does anyone have any tips to make this bland diet more enjoyable. I know I can`t really add anything but any tips or alteratives would be appreciated.

You could also use tuna fish as an alternative to chicken, as long as it is tuna in brine and not oil. You can then use the brine to mix up in the rice and add flavour to the rice a bit.
Dont worry too much about nutrition if it is only for a limited period until they are better. It won't do any harm to them for a few days or even a week.
My dog has a very sensitive stomach and he is often on a bland diet to settle his tummy. Luckily he absolutely love chicken and rice and would eat it every day if I let him.
Hope they are better soon. x

if you are going to use tuna then either get the ones you don;t have to drain or use the ones in sunflower oil - brine is salt water long term use can damage the kidneys

Very true but I was under the impression that this was a short term diet to address vomiting and diarrhoea. Sunflower oil would probably not be a good idea as any kind of fat will irritate the bowel if it is inflamed.

But remember that the salt in the brine (and it is quite a lot) will dehydrate, with diarrhoea and vomiting you usually want them to retain as much water as possible.

To be honest I would avoid giving the brine - even in a healthy dog, as I don't like adding salt to their diet.

I would tend to try tinned fish in tomato sauce - some dogs love it.

I actually agree with Wildmoor.
Brine is just salty water and never should be added to the meal, Oil is much better.
Can I suggest gently Frying the chicken adding no oil instead of boiling?
