Liver Cake Recipe:

1lb Pigs liver
1/2 lb Flour (any kind)
1 Clove of garlic
1 Egg

Liquidise the Liver (a bit at a time), transfer to a mixing bowl, add Garlic, Egg and Flour and mix till you have a stodgy paste. Put into a greased foil lined baking tray and cook in oven (Gas 6, 200oC) for 35-45 minutes. Remove and allow to cool before cutting into small peices. Bag up into small bags and freeze. Defrost and use as required, will keep fresh in fridge for aprox 6 days after defrosting.

My 2yr old Sadie has never been very food orientated, which has made training her quite tricky! that was until we came across liver cake, she absolutely loves the stuff and will do anything if she thinks she might get some lol

Good luck!

Mine is similar...

1 lb beef liver
2 eggs
3 cloves crushed garlic
flour to bind

Whizz first 3 ingredients up in a blender to the consistency of a thick milkshake. Transfer to bowl, stir in flour to make it into a cake mix, then spoon into greased tin and bake for 20-25 mins 200C.

I make a fishy version too by adding a tin of sardines before the flour. Stinky, but they love it!

I did a new thread ages ago about Treats, there are a few variations of the liver cake recipe on there. I'm sorry I don't know how to put a link to that thread on here, but if you search for 'Treats' it's on page 4 near the bottom

They love it! It's good for them in the right quantities.

"According to the Whole Dog Journal, small amounts of garlic not only act as a natural flea repellant, but garlic can be used for its wonderful antifungal and antibacterial properties. It also promotes the production of white blood cells thereby acting as an immune booster for dogs with low or compromised immunity and may benefit dogs with diabetes by helping reduce blood-sugar levels".
