Boris + Tilly try Raw

Well I finally located chickie wings in Iceland, £1 for 6 or 7. So I bought all 4 packs that were left + a pack of frozen thighs.

I cut some meaty bits of for Mills the tabby cat + gave B + T one each. Boris looked at me as if to say what the f is this????? Tilly's disappeared in about 1 1/2 seconds Then she ran up + snatched the one Boris had out his mouth

I tried again = same thing. Then I cut them up into pieces + Boris just wouldn't eat it, Tilly had hoovered the lot up before I could blink. I took Boris's bowl up + mixed him his usual kibble + Butchers + he wolfed that down, so Tilly had the last bit of chicken.

I don't know what to do now as Tilly LOVES raw but Boris wouldn't touch it.

Bless Boris, he just hasn't worked out it's yummy yet! Try hand feeding him some smaller bits like wings, and not letting Miss Tilly get in? Sounds exactly like my two - although they both eat raw, Remus only likes chicken. Anything 'foreign' like rabbit or fish he treats with suspicion and then Zee steals it, cos she's finished hers

Oh mate, Tilly was literally like a Dyson Animal

I tried hand feeding Boris some of the meaty bits I'd cut off the wings but he just spit it out.

I know Boris likes raw because he'll eat bits of chicken when we're cutting bits off we don't want. I think it's because he's not used to having raw meat on bones chucked in his bowl, do you think?

Also Anni I know he LOVES raw mince, do you think that would be ok?

I need to do something as the Science Plan I now have them on is I think making Boris lose fur + I know raw would be better for them both, any other ideas ?

Yeah, I'd get Boris onto mince if he likes that. I think it's a common thing when dogs are introduced to raw, some don't know what it is. You might have to start with chicken fillets (pricey!) and then wean him onto meat with bones. And stay with one protein source for a bit until they're used to it.

You might want to check with your vet about his fur loss - is it diet related then? There might be alternatives to Science Plan if raw doesn't suit him.

It's odd because Zee had been fed Bakers before I got her no wonder she was hyper! And when I put 4 chicken wings in her bowl she wolfed them down, no hesitation.

Girls pick things up quicker than boys, obviously!

Clearly they do

Thanks I'll give the mince a go, Mills the tabby will be delighted, mince is his fave

Boris thrived on the Eukanuba breed specific, but it didn't suit Tilly which is why I changed to Science Plan. I'll give it the weekend + you know me, an unhappy woofa is an unhappy mummy so it will be straight down the vets but I'm sure the fur loss is linked to the short time Bo has been on the SP

TY xxxx

Is there a particular reason you started with chicken wings/thighs? Why not try him with some ox heart? You can get frozen chunks from Pets at Home pretty cheaply. Then you can progress on to bones later.

lauraburns is on a distinguished road
I don't give my lot wings very often, cos Ozzie doesn't really like them and the terriers wolf them down so fast they are gone in the blink of an eye!! I try and get lambs ribs for them, they are the favourite. I have managed to get some trotters for them too as a special treat!!
