Pigs lugs !
Now before we added Tegan to our family some 4 weeks ago I had a few friends who have had GSD's and all gave them Pigs Ears.
Admittedly they were older dogs but can you give them to puppies ? ie 11 weeks old.
I always remember that my friends' dogs loved them.
Anyone get them ? Disadvantages / Advantages ?
Oh yes I remember a disadvantage - THEY STINK !

Mine have always had pigs ears once every couple of weeks, they love them.
Yes they stink.
Dont let them have them unattended greedy dogs (like Sami!) sometimes try to swallow too much at once and can choke. I dont know if this is a big problem I just dont let mine have anything like that unless I am there.

Yep I have always given mine pigs ears (if you think they stink you should try the pizzles we sometimes get him).
Common sense as already mentioned, always be there to supervise.

They don't stink as much as tripe sticks eeeewwwww
Ours have them but never unsupervised as they have a who-can-chuck-it-down-the-quickest competition
I don't know about anyone else on here but I NEVER EVER give my dogs rawhide, I've had a couple of close calls + for me it's too risky
Piggies ears are fine xxx

Back to pigs ears, I remember Bodie having the trotts on them as a pup, maybe a bit rich for their little stomachs at that age?

Stuart, you can get them on ebay for cheaper than in the pet shops. That way you can get them delivered to your door.
Bye the way, what is the problem with rawhide chews?
I have not heard of anything and Ted is chewing away on one right now.

mmm, never thought of that,...I will have a look at Ebay,... thanks
Rawhide chews are renowned for giving dogs problems,.. although dogs do chew them, when they get small enough to swallow, they do, once this happens they start to swell, and cause problems,... more than one dog has had them stick in the throat and swell resulting in the dog choking to dead
I am sure that there are many who will also think the same
