Cheap Food

Hiya

Just wondered if I could get some advice on feeding Diamond. I had said in a conversation over the weekend that she was on Tesco's own brand in Gravy with pedigree mixer (2 tins a day - 1 in morning and 1 in the evening) and she gets a frozen chicken breast in the afternoon. The person I was having the convo with suggested that feeding her this cheap food (which she loves) is the reason she is shedding excessively.....is this true?

Thanks
Amanda

Without knowing how bad your dog is shedding its hard to say either way,.. but mine are shedding now, winter is about over, spring is around the corner,.. it is possible that its just natural casting

Never heard of a particular food giving excessive sheddings

Thanks Stuart....I dont think she was ripping Tesco's food, just made a statement that the cheaper the food the more impact it has on their coats and shedding. At one point Diamonds hair was coming out in lumps and she looked like no-ones bairn lol Grooming was filling a carrier bag at a time. It has settled down now as most of it is out...alot easier to keep on top of now I just thought I would ask here if there was any truth in it.

it is likely to be the fact you have the heating on, Zandi currently has no feather at the back as he shed last month, the clumping is the undercoat, in a double coat breed like the GSD this happens and you can pull the tufts out
