Raised Food Bowls

Hi Guys,
Out of interest, how many of you use some sort of stand or holder for your dogs water and food bowls to raise them up a bit?

I used to for Sam,.. Sam is quite a big dog, and I thought he would benifit from it,..so I made one,.. he used it just long enough to work out how to dislodge it and eat from the floor

So I havent bothered since

Some say good, some say it doesnt matter,.. personaly I tend to go with the later

TBH I havent really thought about raised feeding bowls Lucy, Jess has got 2 steel bowls for F&W...I think it natural for them to eat close to the ground

I have thought about a tray or something that would catch F&W thats falls out of Jess mouth though, just to limit the litter distance lol

Hi Lucy
Never used them.
The boys have Mason and cash ceramic f+w bowls and a stainless steel for outside use.
I like these as they are hygenic, heavy and untipable

I use a metal one which raises the bowls to just under chin level. This was recommended after Dempsey got bloat, as it can (it is thought) help in a small way to prevent it happening again.

Also, because of the shape of a bull terrier's nose (it juts out quite a way beyond the jaw) they find it difficult to get food off the bottom of the bowl, and raising the bowl helps.

Ozzie has a big plastic bowl on the floor. That is all he has ever used! Anyone else have a dog that won't use metal dishes? Ozzie hates them!!

I used to have ones that sat on the floor, and rowdy used to make such a mess and eat really fast but since getting raised feedbowls, similar to this But with bigger bowls
http://www.petsathome.com/shop/stain...rosewood-13752

He had slowed his eating and is no longer messy!! I would recommend them highly as I think they are better for them ( rowdy always had Hic ups ! Well similar!)
