Becoming a neurotic mum!

Hi!

I know poor Sam has had a bit of a rough time in his short life, but I was just wondering whether I should feed him more than the recommended amount?

Since he finished his week long chicken and rice diet I have weaned him on to fish4puppies (I was concerned that he might have allergies) he loves this and would eat far more than I give him which is 240g a day, he does get a little extra because I use his kibble as treats. I'm only asking because he still seems very thin and.... I was reading Linda's thread that said Link was 14kg at 11 weeks... Sam was 11 weeks yesterday and weighs 7.2kgs just so this can be put into context I have listed his weights below.

Birth 700g
7 wks 3.1kgs
8 wks 4.8kgs
9 wks 6 kgs
10 wks 5.5kgs (when he was ill)
11 wks 7.2kgs

So should I try to fatten him up a little?? perhaps an extra 100g of kibble a day?? his parents were averaged sized.

Sally

Bonniesmummy is a jewel in the rough
I don't think you should compare the weights to what other dogs were/are at the same age as they are just all so different IMO if they seem thin and could happily eat more then increase it... I haven't always went with what the packet says TBH. If I thought Bonnie was skinny looking I would give more and if she was podgy looking I'd cut back a bit... I seem to have found the right balance now and it's not what it say's on the packet do what suits your bubba, the packet if mearly a guide xxxxxxx

I would say the same as Bonnies Mummy.
Just go with your 'eye' guide.
