Bloody he'll umm how long is a piece of string!? lol I would say it depends on the amount of exercise the puppy is getting, the nutritional content of the food, the price etc...

I personally would rather pay a little bit extra knowing that I'm feeding a high quality food that my puppy likes and is good for them. I think James wellbeloved is great and the food I feed Max by CSJ canine feeds is also amazing xx xx

mmmm? i just wonder if some 'high price' foods are as good as promoted.
i know few ago my mum was adviced to feed her dogs on a certain food (that the vet was selling) and it wasnt good for her dogs at all.it caused all sorts of upset...
she went back on the vitalin with meat etc,and everything back to good.
and how will i know which is the best for sam... cant try every one..

Hi,

If you want to feed your pup the best quality food then I would try them on this.

Dog Food Reviews - Orijen Puppy Large Breed - Powered by ReviewPost

It's more expensive than your other foods but you get what you pay for. It's one of the few 6 star foods available and contains no grain. (Dogs don't benefit from grain at all and you will find most standard foods contain grain as a filler.)

Compare some other foods on that site and you will see a big difference.
It's very protein rich though so can cause some pups upset tummy's but if your pup does well on it you could not feed a better dry food.

Zak was not fussed on any dry food though, he would eat it for a week or so then get bored so he is on a raw diet.

It's never the same either, he gets plenty of variety and loves it. I shop for him weekly now and it still works out to be pretty cheap.

jesterjenn has a spectacular aura about
If Sam's good on the food he's on now, I personally would stick with it

What suits one dog, won't suit another. Jess can't tolerate kibble of any sorts (she has a super sensitive tummy), so the only option for me was raw (I don't believe in tinned meat for my dogs), and I've never looked back.

I would recommend raw as a food, but I know not everyone likes the idea (it took me a LOT of convincing for me to consider it too).

There are loads of kibbles that are good. A friend of mine has her GSD on WAGG and he thrives on it, but yet that's a food I wouldn't touch with a barge pole, so as I said earlier, what suits one dog won't necessarily suit another. It's just finding one that agrees with you and Sam.

Oh no I totally agree the more expensive foods aren't neccesarily the best. My Ozzy was a sensitive boy at the best of times and when he got really poorly it didn't help. He had a special diet from the vet (I/D) which he loved but my friends dog is on the same for recurrent pancreatitis and she hates it.

If sam is doing ok on the james wellbeloved I would stick to it. I mix half a sachet of wet food (nature diet) in with the dry (CSJ champ) and he loves it. I really rate nature diet. It comes in loads of different flavours and it looks like the meat it is suppost to be lol (if that makes sense?) Max loves the salomon and prawn one. It just gives him a bit of variety and he scoffs them!

LOVEGSD is just really niceLOVEGSD is just really nice
I think it's about finding a food that suits your dog and sticking with it, I feed Orijen and I think it's a fab food, my dogs look great. Diesel suffers with a senstive tum so I am considering going raw with him....if he takes to it then Oscar will have raw too.
