Food Regimes

Hello,

Just looking for some advice with food for my new puppy, have been reading all the posts on here about raw and BARF diets and think it is a good idea..

she is only just 7 & 1/2 weeks old and we are just now keeping her on the same routine as the breeder had..

Our dog apparently refused puppy milk so has been on green tripe since a young age, my question is this:

The breeder had the tripe mixed in with Chudleys puppy food, soaked in water for 4hours then tripe added, with all the reading most people in here say that you shouldn't mix dry and raw food in the same meal due to different digestion times..

she seems fine with it, no runny bums etc however..

is this the best thing to do, should I keep her on this routine or try and get her changed to something else??

Its good to try and get a few different perspectives, thanks ...

Personally I think you need to keep her what she's been fed at the breeders until she's settled and then you can think of changing to either RAW or a kibble...xx

yup, I agree I plan on keeping her on this for the next month or so at least, just too see what everyone thinks of the dry and raw being mixed. i'm getting more confused with the more I read.

marley has all raw now.he doesn't seem to be able to tollerate the two so he gets a tin of tuna or pilchards etc once a week along with 2 raw eggs shell n all.it is just trial n error i think.what ever you do do it gradual and watch your dog she will let you know.

I think the difference here is that the dry has been soaked for so long, makeing the digestion time a whole lot shorter anyway,.. [ I would guess ],.. I dont feed the two in the same meal for the reason you give,.. but many do,...its just two points of view

........... but your breeder is the one in the know here, so I would stick to the advice that he/she has given.

I agree with this, how old was your pup when you got her?

yea, it makes sense with the dry being soaked.. I never thought of it like that!

She's still on the same mix and is doing just fine, so we'll keep her on the same for a few months at least!

We got her at 7 1/2 weeks, she's growing so fast!
