Hawthorn berries

Lucy has been eating hawthorn berries, she did it last year and I moved her on because I feared they might be poisonous I had forgotten about it until today, she has been eating them on this mornings walk so I googled, it turns out hawthorn is used very effectively to treat the early stages of heart disease and strengthen the heart.

This has prompted me to get her heart checked because i am now a little concerned ,she does pant a lot after exercise but this has never worried me because she is very high energy and never stops.
Thought I would share this because I know nothing of herbal remedies and any other knowledge or experience would be appreciated

I guess she might just know what’s good for her but it’s a first on me, If it does turn out she has a heart condition the dogs natural instinct is quite something!

wildmoor has disabled reputation
maybe she is lacking something in her diet or like you say a health issue

its like grass mine only ate when fed a BARF diet - if fed full prey method they didnt, if fed complete they didnt - the grass helped in removing small bone deposits in the gut - or if something like cartilage irritating their stomache they would eat a particular type of grass or oak leaves which would induce projectile vomit and irritation would be removed.

nisbreagha has a spectacular aura about
Fox and badger all eat berries so it's not surprising our dog enjoy them, not sure how much goodness they get from them as they usually just appear out the other end, maybe as pam says they help clear out the insides.

Sorry to hear that, I would post a link to the site I found that was very informative about hawthorn berries but I don‘t know how to.
From what I have read dogs with with a weak heart can still live a long and happy life, in fact I know of a JRT age 12 that was diagnosed with a dicky ticker years ago.
