Burns dog food

I am doing some research and was looking for different food for Harvey Bear

He is overweight!, so need to get him sorted to the right weight
I was looking at Burns dry food, anyone feed this to their dogs and is it any good?

At the mo he is on Dr Johns silver medal with a small portion of wet food

Any thoughts or suggestions?

if you want him to lose weight he will on Burns I dont feed it for this reason

I prefer Skinners, try cutting out the wet food or reduce amount of dry you give him

We have reduced his dry food amount and kept his wet at half a tin in a morning and half again at night and we have cut down on his treats too

Maybe this will be enough, when did you start to reduce, it may take some time before you see results.

More exercise will also help,...please dont take this the wrong way, I know you exercise him, bad owners dont usualy join forums,.. but there are different kinds of exercises, and I dont know yours.

A dog that is off lead for an hour, is likely to be a far better weight than one how is walked on a lead for two hours

Adult Burns

We started Kenzi on Burns Adult fish and brown rice about 1 month ago. She is now down to quarter of her puppy food (royal canin) and 3/4 Burns. we have noticed her poos are less and also firmer. She was not overweight but she does look a little leaner. She would eat all day if she could, she is a real gannet!! Our friends also feed Burns and their GSd is a beaut. I like it as it has so few ingredients. I also only give her home made biscuits, to be sure of no additives and rubbish!

LindaM will become famous soon enough
I feed Lukey Arden Grange.

I would happily feed Burns but he doesn't like it.

Most companies will send you a reasonable size sample if you talk to them poss 2.5 kg bag if they think you are going to be buying it for years!!!

It takes a long time to shift weight and a small decrease over a long period of time is what I would use plus upping the exercise if possible.

Good luck

Stuart....
Harvey is on reduced exercise at the moment cause he has a swollen elbow
But normally he is walked on a lead cause his recall is not good( we keep trying!) my dog walker has him off lead out in the fields for at least an hour, he also gets another 3 walks a day for about 30 to 40 mins
He is a big dog and doesn't look over weight but the vet says he is

We have reduced his food since Wednesday and he goes back to the vets on Thursday to check his elbow so will get him weighed again

His exercice seems good, so I would guess that the food reduction should be enough to do the trick, just have to give it time

Hope his elbow is ok by Thursday

My 2 are on Burns + they're really doing well on it. I've tried loads of foods coz of Tilly's allergy thing + it's the best I've come across for them.

They've had Eukanuba, Hills science plan, fish 4 dogs, Orijen, allbluddisorts

Poos are nice + firm + a bit less , it really suits them, they're on the pork + potato one + they really like it and they've got really shiny coats

Good luck
