Talking What should i be feeding my puppy

Hi Guys i now need lots of advice to bear in mind before i get my puppy (not found one yet)

What do i need to feed my puppy? and how much
Rocky was fed on pets at home food.

How much excercise? i know mooms takes her dog out 4 times a day for an hour, do i need to take a puppy out 4 times a day?

How do you house train a puppy??

these are all things i am not sure about, as rocky was dealt with by my mum, as i was only 10yrs when we got him.

Thanks all!

Hi Jenny,

I not to sure what procedure a rescue centre follow but I assume it would be the same as if you were to buy a pedigree (whatever a pedigree is?)

When you buy your dog you should be given; not too sure if all breeders do this but mine did.

A diet sheet and health information regarding exercise and how much.
The KC registration papers
A generation pedigree
Free Insurance
Free food
A guarenteed refund should you have any problems.

It depends on the breed you decide to choose as to how much exercise the dog needs, but don't be fooled into thinking that large breeds need lots of exercise as puppies, You need to do a lot of reading and research into what dogs suits your lifestyle.

I personally think and this is only my opinion I might be wrong but I think that 4 hours a day for a young GSD is too much.

Deez got "pano" when he was about 5.5months so we had to really curb his exercise. The vet recommended he only got 15 mins a day and luckily for us Deez was very patient with this. I am inclined to agree with George's mum in that 4 hours of exercise for a young GSD is too much as their bones are still soft and growing.

I was told by my vet to limit Henry's walks to 2 x 20 mins gentle strolls only until 6 months to protect against hip strain in later life.
