Do you give you dog Fruit

I have always given George a piece of orange, or frozen water melon,

He will take you hand off for a piece of apple.............

On a Sunday I given him fresh veg mixed in with his food, I know a lot of you feed raw, but do you give them fresh fruit and veg

Diesel loves veg, he also get's veg with his dinner on Sunday.....he's not so keen on fruit, we tried to give him some orange but he kept just holding it in his mouth, not breaking the skin and then spitting it back out...lol

When Jason's backlegs were going due to CDRM I had him under a vet who also did herbalism. I used to feed him shin of beef with a bit of oatmeal; wheat grated carrot and grated apple. The only problem was he had a gastric torsion and the emergency vet who saved his life immediately blamed the apple for causing it. I disagreed as I know many dogs which eat apples when they drop from the tree an dogs in the wild eat fruit when it is available.

Rex and Prince, our 2 rough collies way back in the '60s used to get table scraps mixed with their food which they absolutely relished. Then the stories started coming out about starch in potatos; white bread and starch causing fits.

They never fitted and lived full healthy lives not needing the vet apart from their vaccinations.

I dont give my dogs citrus fruit or grapes, but they do have apples with pips removed, bananas, pears, they have the occaisional carrot to munch on even though it comes out as it goes in.

Brandy eats just about anything! She loves celery, cucumber, carrots, apples, pears, apples...the list goes on and on

We feed her a wide range of fruit and veg as treats when we have to leave her on her own. Her main diet is burns complete food for breakfast and then she has chicken wings or chicken carcass for dinner (plus any table scraps of course).

We have (thankfully) never had a problem with her "emissions" which is more than I can say for the greyhound that we had before we got Brandy!!!

Hi Tazman
too much citrus fruit can cause vomiting and diarrehea, although you do get sites such as Barfworld recommending it, saying that they recommend garlic which can be fatal if given to much to some dogs. Your dog maybe fine but I avoid citrus fruits just incase I dont want to be cleaning up from both ends lol
