Which dried food do you recommend?
Hi all, my 6 month old boy has two problems when it comes to food. He has a very delicate tum so not everything suits him and I need to introduce new food very, very gradually so as not to upset him. This is fine but for the fact I cannot find a dried food that he will eat. He eats some for a few meals and then will just go hungry rather than take it. He eats tinned food and mixer very well but it is expensive and I would like to get him on dried if I can.
He is not a hungry dog generally and drops weight quickly when he doesn't eat.
What is a good quality, highly palatable and gentle on the tummy dried food in your experience please?

Mine is a fussy eater with a constant funny tummy. She is on Orijen 6 Fish, because she's allergic to everything. It seems expensive (at around £60,00 per month), but it saves a fortune on vet bills, so it is worth a try.

i too was using arden grange large breed when skye was i pup.. i changed to the other pup one they have light blue bag.. as i found out the breeder had been using it instead so i decided to give it a try.. after a fews weeks the poos where soft and smelly all the time..i change back to the ag large..same still soft poos... couldn't understand why... so eventually i slowly changed over to royal canin maxi junior which is great for him..luna also... the stools are firm and small!!

feeding
Hi Tedsmum , Ihad the same problem with my new chap , Bair my 12 yr old girl has been on Royal Canin for years and could easily pass for a 7 yr old , so I wanted Mowgli to have that , off I went excited that they did a special german shepherd puppy food ( sucker for a gimmick ) but reading into it all it seemed perfect for the little chap .....wouldnt eat it !! I tried mixing all sorts of things with it , but he has NEVER asked me for his dinner and would just pick at everything , he was growing so fast and losing more and more weight , in my desperation I kept the RC the same but changed what I put with it probably every day in a desperate attempt to get him to eat , lots will frown at this and i know it wasnt the best thing to do but he needed to eat , the things i found most succesful were porridge and grated cheese mixed well in , this again would last for a week at a time before he decided he didnt want it !! All that changed 2 months ago when my vet suggested Bair have some fish in her diet for protein as her old kidneys were struggling a bit , out came the sardines in sunflower oil ! Both dogs have eaten this mixed with their royal canin twice per day for 2 months now , Mowgli squeaks for his tea now and wolfs it down !! his poos are proper ones now instead of little hard nuggets and there coats are amazing ( cos of the oil i guess ) the old girls mobility is better too and her small problem of leaving a litle damp patch where she lays has gone ! The best bit ?? My 9 month old puppy weighed in at the vets today as 44kg !!!!! yes thats huge he is a big lad but he is still lean looking and perfect weight for his build and size Good Luck
Laney , Bair and Mog Dog x
