Hi Chris
Are you not on my FB friends list? all the links for anything to do with genetics and the GSD are there.
I will put here you can either go via Laboklin in Manchester who send it on for you it is £140 you can download order form here LABOKLIN (UK)|Genetic Diseases | Dogs| Dwarfism (Pituitary Dwarfism / Hypopituitarism)

Dogs must have means of identification plus copy of pedigree.
Or you can go direct to Utrecht
For the genetic test, 4 ml. of blood (collected in an EDTA containing tube) is needed. The blood sample has to be shipped to:
Dr. H.S. Kooistra (H.S.Kooistra@uu.nl)
Department of Clinical Sciences of Companion Animals
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Utrecht University
Yalelaan 108
3584 CM Utrecht
The Netherlands

100 euros plus vat

FacebooK!!!

Sorry Pam, Facebook scares the hell out of me, don't understand it at all.

Do you think it is worth getting an 8 year old dog tested? He hasn't produced any dwarfs as yet to a mixture of all german lines, english and german and all english lines.

Think I need help to overcome my fear of facebook. I keep being asked to be friends with people!!!!

Speak soon

Chris

Hi Chris, probably not as you will be retiring him soon I guess, or will you use him for a few more years.
Most pups that would be dwarfs die in the womb and reabsorbed or becoming fading pups and die before the condition is noticable.

Overlook will become famous soon enough
I'm quite interested in this thread as a vet that has seen Clay called him a 'dwarf'. I missed the reference (it was hubs who relayed it to me later) so never asked for any info. I will check the link when have more time as never heard of it before then and not really found much info.
