Second phantom pregnancy!
Our little one is going through her second phantom pregnancy, and its only her second season. Shes 16months old, being treated to reduce the milk with GALASTOP. Shes had 5 days of it, 2.9ml back to the vets still full of milk. Gave her another 6 days of GALASTOP. On her third day she still is swollen with milk. Waiting to have her spayed but advised not to the first season because she was not developed properly (innie).
Any one had a similar problem, if so what was the out come?
Next stage might be anti-biotics.
Shes obviously hyper at the moment!
Nesting and barking!

Pyometra - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Very nasty! There are 2 types, open and closed. Closed pyometra is the worst as you don't always see the symptoms until it is too late.

The first dog I ever had was a Border Collie bitch. Her first season was fine - no problems at all. However, after her 2nd season she had a phantom, the same after her 3rd. Then after her 4th season she developed pyometra & we nearly lost her. She was speyed immediately & lived until she was nearly 16 years old!
I'm not a great lover of neutering a dog for no reason, but some bitches really do suffer from phantom pregnancies & it upsets them terribly. For their own health & peace of mind speying is the kindest option.

Nice story.
Thanks for your reply.
I agree, we wanted her done after first time, were told to wait until the next time, because of other problems.
Now this problem. We've a 2-3 week window for this to clear up, then we can have her speyed...hopefully

Good luck. I would say that the right decision is to spay. It's a shame, but otherwise you could be putting her through this every 4 or 5 months with the chance of milk infections & pyometra. Such a shame, but her health obviously comes first & she'll be so much happier afterwards.
