Puppy Help Please

I would appreciate any advice about my 8 months old pup. Recently (usually after a walk which is over an hour long) he cries when he is lying down or sitting up. After a day or so, hes back to normal. Can anyone advise me whats going on and should I seek immediate advise from a vet. I dosn't happen all the time and i thought it was just cause he was growing. Can someone help please

You're walking him too far for his age! Simple as that. He's not really old enough to go so far & you could damage his growth plates & tendons if you do too much too soon. Cut the walks back to about 20 minutes/ half an hour maximum (three times a day if you can) & see if that helps.

Thanks, but he isn't actually mine! When I joined the forum I didn't have any decent pics to put on so I put this one on. It's a photo I took of Ch. Royvons Red Rum many years ago when I was researching for a book. He's a dog I've always thought was a great model for the breed - not too exagerrated.

Is the 1hr, forced leading walking on hard ground? Is the only exercise he gets?
How did you start his exercise regime, did you build it up gradualy?
Does he have any free running? Does he have any muscle definition?

He is very nervous around strangers, so I joined a dog walking group to get him socialising. The walks are all rural and soft underfoot with water to splash in sometimes (his favourite pastime) and he enjoys running and the romping about with the pack. We joined around 3 months ago so this is a bit newish for him so it has been built up gradually as beforehand we just walked locally and not for more than an hour with lots of stops to allow him to get used to passers by. We walk on leash for first 10/15 minutes with the group and there is no set pace.
