Eaten a sponge - not a cake
Help! Came down this morning to find Zee has eaten a whole yellow car sponge! A tiny piece of evidence left near the radiator where it was drying.
I know there's worse things she could have eaten as its soft, but I'm worried about it swelling up in her tum.
Will the acid in her gut break it down? Should I ring vet when they're open or just wait and see what happens at the other end?

I would ring the vet for advice. I have not come across this before but I would be a little concernced that a synthetic sponge would not get digested and could cause some trouble.
Hope she is ok and let us know x

you should call to let know what is eaten. In the first place I think you will be told to follow the dog and the general condition and you may also be told to give the paraffin. Had it been the sharp edges of what they have eaten, you could also have given asparagus, asparagus has threads that binds the content together with faeces
If u see the dog get unwell, take the dog to the vet asap, and demand something to be done..not let the vet wait that long as they did to Laban..it allmost killed my boy

Phone the vet & let them know.
Then keep a real eagle eye on him for the next couple of days. Hopefully he'll pass it, as long as he chewed it up first. Any sign of distress, or if he's sick but doesn't bring anything up, straight to the vet.

Thanks guys. She's her normal bouncy self, had normal poo on walk. Vets said just keep eye on her for any change in normal behaviour, retching, constipation etc.

Sienna ate a sponge a few months back and we were very worried what it would do to her but she passed it 2 days after with no problems at all.

Little bugger! As the others have said, keep an eye on her but I'm willing to bet you will be picking up yellow speckled poo either tomorrow or monday!
