White shepherd

Male, who is why I started this "clan", I'm worried about his teeth. He is only a year and a half and his teeth are very worn down, look chipped off. With my very lil understanding there is calcium supplements I can give him, is there anything else I can give? Do you kow if this will help? any personal experience? His cartilage has never been strong (well, ears and teeth are all I have to visually compare here) so any advise is appreciated!

do not add calcium if the dog is on a commercial diet it will have adequate, otherwise you will cause health problems in the future

jesterjenn has a spectacular aura about
I notice that there's a tennis ball in that picture... The glue used on a tennis ball wears the teeth down.

Have you any idea how his teeth have been worn down?,... is he a stone chewer for example,..you need to find out why its happening to start with really

...and yes his claws are far too long,..is he walked mainly on grass?,.. you will need to either get them trimmed, or walk him on tarmac/concrete or you may find he will have problems walking at some point in the future

actually

I walk them every day on a cement walk path in the city park. Both of the shepherds have very long front nails, but their back nails are "trimmed" by doing so. Since I am still fairly new to the dog owner thing and do not trust myself cutting them I take them in about once every month or two to get the fronts clipped by the vet.
Chili (white) does not chew on tennis balls much, that is a Roxi trait. She loves the squeeky toys...will keep that in mind in the future thank you! Chili (white with teeth issues) WAS a stone chewer when he was a puppy, but no longer does this. I thought it was only when he had baby teeth, specially since I have seen the wear slowly since he grew out of that. You really have no idea how much I thank you for any feedback, I am still learning so much about them that everything is very helpful.

I think that may have been the problem then,.. if he was a stone chewer when he was a pup, then he was a chewer when the teeth were at their softest, the good thing about that is that if the stone chewing has stopped it is unlikely that it will get any worse, and if Chili is managing now, then he will be fine

:)

he is such a sweetie, and I don't care what his future entails he will always be loved and cared for! I will go to the last vet here in town for yet another opinion, and if it does not get worse, great! I was hoping for a fix though which I do not think I will get no matter how hard I look. I have spent so much on this dang dog when I was taught if something is wrong take em out back n shoot em. Could never do that, too cose to family! I never planned on getting dogs because they are just too much work. Already having 3 kids, more work was not on the top of my list. But now that I have them, I couldn't imagine NOT having them.
