Eek!!!
Just had Rogue in the bath and my GOD, her SKIN!!!
I know she has been scratching a little bit lately, we think she had a flea allergy but we got rid of the fleas and i thought we were keeping on top of it. Tried ExmaRid which i have to say was RUBBISH, it left a white film on her skin so it wasn't until todays bath i realised just how bad it had got, and i seemed to have washed LOADS of hair off her thighs... she's almost BALD!!
kinda worried to take her to the vet, it looks really bad to me.... makes me feel like a bad mum!!

Sounds like maybe she has an allergy or maybe even mites? Does she have any 'red dots' between her toes or on her ears as harvest mites are about this time of year?
She could have an allergy to some type of pollen aswell? I would take her to the vets though so that they can look at her skin, it could even be ringworm as that makes the hair fall out and you can catch it from her so you really need to have a diagnosis so you know what you're dealing with. X
And believe me there are worse things seen by vets than little Rogue's balding thigh!!

You're not a bad mummy - you've done what you thought was best!
Now, as it doesn't seem to have worked, you can take her to the vets and know that you've done what you can.

Poor you! Don't feel bad, vets will have seen a lot worse trust me. At least you're getting it investigated. Let us know what the outcome is?
Remus was really bad last year for scratching (harvest mites) but not too bad this year.. don't know if it's to do with the poor crop yeild or that I've been supplementing him with evening primrose oil, but he's less itchy.

Well, the vets have said they have seen an awful lot of cases recently of flea bite infections, and this is what she had.
So we got steroids for her skin, antibiotics for the infection and a cover-all kind of flea treatment that gets mites and everything else as well just in case. I'm going to feel like a vet each morning having to dish all these medications out!!!
We got rid of the fleas last week but the infection stayed on and everything we tried just seemed to make it worse. The pet shop lady also said that she is selling out of flea remedies just about every day so the problem with fleas this year seems to be pretty bad.
Problem is, now that i have the two cats who are outdoor cats and now Rogue with a flea allergy its going to be a nightmare to try and keep on top of it, especially if its bad this year!
I can't bomb the house with Bandit in it on cage rest, so i'm going to have to wait until he is fit and well before i can fumigate......
phew!
Why does all this stuff have to happen at once?!
I'm a stuuuuudent! I'm skint in the suuuuuuummer!!!
