Off food!

Hi

I am just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.
Max my GSD seems to be off his food a little, sometimes he will eat a little and then other times he is just not interested.
He is 17 months old and still entire. He is my first GSD as i have always had Labradors.
So i was wondering if it is just a phrase he is going through.

Also he seems ok in himself although he has also got off raw carrot and apples which he used to love.

Would be grateful for your advice

I found Diesel used to leave some of his food when he was around this age and entire, I never worried as long as he was drinking and had energy so I'd keep an eye on him and see how he goes.

What is he fed?

Duke used to this, and funnily enough that was also around 18 months old! As long as he's fit & happy, and drinking ok, I wouldn't worry. Has he always had the same food?

Hi thanks for the replies

Yeah he has always been fed Arden Grange Lamb and Rice.

It has put my mind at ease to know that other go through the same at his age.
He seems fit, his coat is still shiny but will keep an eye on him.

It could be that he's just not hungry, Diesel was never greedy and if you ever put more in he'd always leave it.

I would just keep feeding him as you are and keep an eye on him, the last thing you want to do is make him a picky eater by adding stuff.

How funny that you had the same thing, maybe it's a hormone thing??

That is what i wondered as i have not had him neutered as yet that it could be his hormones.
Up until about 3 days ago he would eat anything put down and it would be gone before my Lab had finished hers.
It gets worrying when you have never had a dog do such a thing.
Many thanks for you reply.

Mandy

Has your Lab been spayed?

It could be there is a bitch in season nearby, my boy used to go off his food for a week or so when he got a scent of a bitch in season. If that is the case he might well become a bit disobedient while on walks, they tend to want to run off and find the bitch, so his recall may not be good at the moment!

Yeah Nala my Lab has been spayed .
He has got a little deaf as well over the last couple of days.
Hopefully the bitch will soon come off of her season. LOL (Whereever she may be.)

Thanks for your help.
