Eating...

Hi Everyone

Hope all is good with you all! Well as you can see Jazz is rapidly growing, but am concerned about her eating as just lately she has started to be really picky! I realise that it is warm and that she has a huge fur coat, but she will go to her food bowl, have a sniff and then walk away?

Has anybody experienced this with their German Shepherds?

Yup - if its warm Diesel will go off his food - so I pick it up cover it and then give it to him a bit later on when its cooler and he usually eats it then.

same.
plus with it being warm loads of flies are about so if they don't eat it within 5-10 mins the flies are surrounding them!
Well thats if you feed outside....

Yes our Jazmin is the same.
So we give her ten minutes to eat it, if she walks away, I put a teatowel over it.( to keep the rotten flies off)
If she wants it later she barks at it.
With the weather being hot, she will nibble through out the day.
Then come the evening she will eat her main meal.
As long as you dog is drinking, I wouldn't worry.
In the really hot weather, we always play with her pool and hose pipe.
Then I know she is cool.

Bliemy,.. none of ours go off their food no matter what the weather/temp,... what are you feeding her?,.. the chances are that it is simply too much and she is not hungry, you should really keep them just a touch hungry,.. dont take that phase the wrong way though, feed them enough, and correctly,.. but if you keep them just a tad hungry it is far more natural and will keep them in far better trim
