Leo - another update

We have been to the vets tonight for a further check up on his bum.

Vet very pleased with him, he has responded very well to treatment. So well in fact that we can reduce his meds still further to every other day.

I am really pleased I had expected to have to wait another couple of weeks at least before reducing the dose.

Glad you've had some good news

Was it an anal gland abscess or something like that?

Hi Catherine it was the dreaded AF (Anal Furunculosis) if you have come across it before .

I have had Sami go through it a couple of years ago and nearly lost her ( the meds are just awful and it can be very difficult to get rid of the fistulas ) so when Leo was diagnosed with it also to say I was devastated is putting it mildly.

Ahhhhh

Haven't came across it personally...but have heard quite a bit about it. Can bloomin imagine that you would have been devastated! Poor wee sausage

I'm glad you've heard some positive news and hopefully the meds can be reduced a good bit.

I sometimes wonder how the body can cope with problems and all the damn effects of the meds that are supposed to be helping with the problems.

Leo hasnt been too bad tbh but it was heartbreaking with Sami. She was almost 12 so that didnt help and she had it really bad. The meds were awful and I spent a few tearful nights on here asking if I was doing the right thing. She wouldnt eat, she was sick constantly, she didnt want to go for a walk, it was horrible.

That's awful

I'll keep my fingers crossed that things keep improving for Leo.
