Breathing problem

After only a few minutes of play in the garden, Abi sort of collapsed on the floor and was hyperventilating. It took her about an hour to fully recover. She has done this about 3 times over the past 8 weeks so I asked the vet to examine her... he said her lungs are clear and she appears in perfect health and at the correct weight.

Maybe I'm fussing over nothing... I took a video of her after about 10 minutes of one of these episodes. Has anyone got any ideas? Is this normal? (it's not like it has been hot outside and the house is cool and well ventilated:

Many thanks

They are darkish red. I'm baffled (and a little worried).

kita is just really nicekita is just really nice
Is it always after she has been in the garden?

Could it be an allergic reaction to some plant/flower/pollen?

It looks like her heart is beating really fast, that would make her pant more as she will be trying to cool down, it would also make her gums darkish red.

I would check her heartbeat if it happens again.

Tedsmum will become famous soon enough
If this persists I would definately go back to your vets and make a nuisance of yourself. The first thing I would think of was heart or circulatory problems but it can be easily ruled out with correct testing.
I hope you get it sorted out as it must be a worry for you.
Let us know how she goes xxx

Many thanks for the replies. The only other thing I can think of is that this thing has developed since she was spayed mid June. Maybe I should email the vet the video... he wasn't at all concerned about her as she looks the picture of health.

The allergy possibility needs to be investigated because her episodes do follow a short time in the garden, but she's out there every day (supervised because I don't want her digging), so why is she only affected every time?. Maybe I should take note of pollen counts on the days she's affected.

She's up-to-date with vaccines and heart worm treatments.

Thanks again... I am so worried.

Bonniesmummy is a jewel in the rough
Bonnie does exactly this after she has been on a walk with my oh, she pants normally after a walk with me or my son. When my oh takes her out he has her constantly running around chasing him, balls sticks.... Whatever!! So I've put it down to this. Xxx
