Controlled levels of protein for a growing pup.

I was just reading up on a food in another thread and came across this on the write up for Burrns Extra.

Burns Canine Extra is a complete, high energy food for the large-breed growing dog, pregnant / nursing bitches and underweight adult dog.

It is now well established that high intakes of protein and fat during puppyhood can lead to health problems in the adult, for example obesity and skeletal disorders, especially hip dysplasia. Burns puppy foods contain controlled levels of protein, fat and minerals to ensure that requirements for energy, muscle and bone development are met but not exceeded.

I always thought the better food and nutrients, high protein a pup gets the better chance the pup has of being healthy. Now I don't know what to think to be honest.

Something to think about though if you have a very very young pup.

I think this sounds just like,.. `buy me I am better than the others`,..I think it is tripe

Its been years since I had a pup, but any dog needs all these things in its diet, in the correct amount,.. a puppy is on the go all day long and probably needs a lot for growing needs,.. but to say that protein and fat causes Hip Dysplasia is silly
