Jake's hydrotherapy

Jake went for his first appointment for hydrotherapy last night i thought i would start a new thread here so i can keep you up to date on how he is doing in the next few weeks , the man said i should be thinking in short term about Jake , i know in my heart i should but i just havent wanted to think about it :-(
anyway :-) Jake was so good they loved him which i knew they would as soon as they met him , he spent about 15 mins in the pool the man said he would let him just swim about for his first time and he did he was swimming away enjoying himself , when they got him out he had to rest as he couldn't walk bless him , he was showered and then dried and put in a toweling coat to keep him warm on the way home , he was very quiet in the car on the way home , he is still very quiet now he is still sleeping he has slept all night which he never does .
i have made appointments for the next few weeks for him they decided it will be best for him to go 3 times a fortnight .
i know this disease he has got is not going to get better and ive seen how it gets horribly worse but if hydrotherapy can help him while he is at this stage its worth it .
i will keep you all up to date on Jake and hopefully next time i go i will be able to get some pics of him swimming :-)

Aww that's great that Jake enjoyed the hydrotherapy so much...bless him for being so tired!

I would be focusing on the here and now like you, best not to think too far ahead whilst this is something that can help him.

I can't wait to read more about his sessions

Really glad Jake enjoyed his swimming. I hope it helps him. Just make the very most of him now, and don't dwell on the future

Jake had his second appointment today he didnt go in the pool he had a jacuzzi this time at first i think he thought he was getting a bath he hates getting a bath lol but then he settled down and started to enjoy it bless him , the water is lovely and warm and the jets throw out loads of bubbles it must have felt so good in there , he was submerged with only his head out so it must have done all his body some good , he slept on the way home its half an hours drive , he is sleeping now cuddled up with holly . the man said he doesnt think jake will be going to them for long he has had a few dogs with jakes condition so i suppose he knows best and i would never let jake suffer but im going to prove him wrong and he going to see lots of jake

I am so glad that Jake has taken to the water, George absolutely enjoyed the hydrotherapy pool and it showed on his face everytime he went to his sessions.

George now has a 14 pool in the back garden which he uses mostly in the summer and we top up with monthly swims at the hydrotherapy pool.

Just you watch out - in no time Jake will be expecting a full manicure next

Seriously lovely that he is enjoying this treat and it must be satisfying to you to see him sleep so soundly afterwards....keep up the good work - he sounds like he is enjoying life - good luck Jake!

Unhappy

Just popped on quick to let you know Jake went for another jacuzzi tonight , as soon as i got his towelling coat out that he wears on the way home he got all excited knowing he was going , when he got there he was all waggy tailed until he went in the jacuzzi then he started shaking like he was scared i as worried he was going to have a seisure (he has been under control with them for a few years ) his face looked so sad it upset me the lady stopped the jets and we calmed him down so we carried on with his treatment all the time i was stroking his head to let him know he was safe , the jacuzzi is doing wonders for him he is walking so much better and has loved the last 2 times in it , it was upsetting to see him scared all i can think is when he first went in it was a bit full and he couldnt feel the bottom so they emptied some water out , i hope next week he is happy as he loves going
