Vomit
It would appear that hungry Horace er I mean Olli has eaten something that disapproves of him as on the way back from a nice walk he vomited just as we pulled up in the car. The only thing of note in the vomit (sorry!) was some stalks that looked a little like the stalks from cherries. I didn't see him pick anything up but that's not to say he hasn't as he really is a furry vacuum cleaner!
He's only been sick the once about 3 hours ago and is due his evening meal. He has been drinking water as he normally would so do I give him his dinner now, make him wait a bit longer or miss it out altogether?
He is a bit clingy and quieter than normal (my neighbours will be pleased!) He did also refuse treats for the hour or so before he puked.
Eesh it's just like having a child! My poor Dad is in a state saying we should go straight to the vets, I'm more inclined to wait it out and if he gets worse then go to the vets.

Hi, if he is still ok now, I would be tempted to offer him a small meal and see how he goes. If he refused treats before he was sick because he was feeling poorly, you may well find that if he is still feeling off colour, he will refuse again.
If he gets on ok with a little, perhaps give him a little more later and if all ok, go back to normal meals tomorrow.
I wouldnt personally be rushing off to the vets just yet!
Hope he is ok, let us know!
Sue

Thanks Sue, I've just put his food bowl down and he's walked away from it so I'll try him again a little bit later on. He has had some more to drink though which is good.
Think we'll skip tonight's walk as he just seems to want to lay on me. A quiet night will do us both good!

I agree with Su, if he is drinking and not obviously ill I would leave it and see how he is tomorrow. If he doesnt want to eat tonight dont force him.

Yes, I always leave out their meal if they have been sick,..it doesnt hurt them and gives the stomach chance to settle down

Thanks folks, Olli is currently crashed out on my feet, sound asleep. Hopefully he'll sleep whatever it is off and be as right as rain tomorrow :-)

Thank you for asking, Olli skipped his dinner last night and seemed to be fine yesterday. This morning he was ok until he finished chewing on a rawhide thing and a crunching sound seemed to be coming from his jaw! He's well and truly teething now as I'm forming a line of the old ones on the mantle piece!
I'm not sure what the crunching noise was so as we were due at the vets for a weight check I asked the vet to have a look at him, vet just said it's probably him getting used to gaps where there weren't gaps previously.
Olli's happily crunching on icecubes at the moment so seems fine :-)

Be aware that many people, me included think that the rawhide chews are a dangerous thing to give any dog, when they are chewed they swell, if the dog bites off,.. and swallows that piece, it continues to swell, and more than one dog has died through chokeing this way
