Tit bits
Now i'm not one for giving scraps to my dogs, i think if they have their dinner then that's sufficient. But my OH seems adamant on giving them treats and as titon is overweight i am trying to be extremely strict with him and make sure i weigh his meals (500g x2 daily, raw)
Although i don't mind so much with the youngster it is just as bad feeding one without the other which is highly likely to cause problems.
So after him feeding them CHOCOLATE!!! after me asking him not to i wanted to know if you guys feed your dogs tit bits/treats and whether they are the human variety?
I am not amused with him feeding them what he does and just wanted some perspective on what you do or don't do with your guys and gals.....am i being to strict or harsh here?

I will give mine left over veg, but that is about it for human food. As for treats, they all have to be worked for! Even if it is just a few quick commands, they have to do something to get them. I'm mean, and make my lot work for everything!
What is it with OH's? Mine keeps trying to fatten Ozzie up, while I am trying to get him to loose a bit!!

ahh don't even get me started! i'm sure they just do it to maintain authoritayyy.......
Although i don't really need to train titon any more, iv got liver bits for skye for training so yes i do actually do that, but chocolate "come on!" its the devils food for dogs! i might as well just serve them a full bowl of fat or lard...
he just won't seem to listen

Otto has his food & we have ours. The only thing he does have is raw carrot or frozen banana. The former is put in his bowl & the latter in his Kong. As for human chocolate that is a big no no. It's poisonous to dogs

it's soo frustrating like i'm banging my head against a brick wall, my feeding regimes are dismissed and consequently it will be the dogs that suffer
i just want whats best for them, but 'oh just one little bit won't hurt' is all i get.......i need to stop him doing the shopping and ban chocolate from the house!!!

Bonnie gets treats, I dont mind her having them tbh. I fill her kongs and give her dentastix through the day when I leave her to go to work. I usually hide them so she has to go find.
I feed her dry but add half a tin of meat or sardines etc to it at meal times but if I have leftovers, for example stew, then I'll add that instead of the sardines. I don't mind her having it as long as it's fed in her bowl and not from your hand or plate.... She also loves raw carrot
Big no no no no on chocolate!!! However it's the amount you give them, a small bit won't do any harm xxx

I've always feed all my dogs with suitable scraps off the table, but I do it as part of the meal, if it's not their meal time, then it's put to one side until it is...
Ellie and Jones do get Fruit Pastels or Jelly Babies, but this is their reward when the warn either myself or hubby that we are starting to have a diabetic hypo (we are both T1 diabetics) and these are what we use to treat our hypo's with.. So they get one as well...
And they do get the occasional biscuit, and if we have a barbie then they have a susage with us..
But if they've had extra's I do reduce their normal food though..

I have tried the nice approach:'please don't feed that to the dogs'
The more sterner approach : it's poisoness to them do not feed it!!
and the blunt one: why don't you just take them up the field and put a bullet in their head!
and im embarressed to say it has had absolutely no effect what so ever its like a feckin game to him.....sorry im rambling but so annoyed! there is very little i can do to stop his stupidity though!
