Cost of hip scoring

I'm thinking of getting my girls hips scored as I want to do more agility with them next and therefore want to know what their hips are like to make sure they can cope with the jumping etc. I've contacted my own vets and they are quoting roughly £200-£250 plus the £50 for the BVA but i have also spoken to a friend who does schutzund who had his boy scored last year and he was only £100 in total so I'm a bit concerned my vet is taking the pee!!!! can anyone tell me how much they have paid?

Nearest place to me quoted £400-£500 plus BVA fees! So we never had Ozzie done! But speaking to someone the other day, he gave me a number of a chap who does his dogs and he said it costs £250 all in!

Im just a bit bemused with the disparity in prices from vet to vet...... I get so annoyed when I think they are ripping me off espcially when i'm being responsible and doing it to make sure i'm not doing them any damage if they have potentially bad hips (their parents and grandparents are all good scores in single figures but you can never know until you get them scored)..... grrr vets

I know, it is crazy isn't it!! I think some of the price difference comes down to whether they just sedate the dogs for the x ray or completely anaesthetise them. But even so you are talking 100's of pounds difference in some cases!!

Zandi is 6 1/2 now so its a while i had a GSD xrayed for hip/elbows 5 yr ago cost was £192 plus BVA fees for both hips and elbows - no point just having hips done a dog can be hd free but still have crap elbows and in agility the elbows take the brunt of any force from landing

ellies was the cost of the GA plus the x-rays, they have to be proper x-rays as bva dont use digital ones i think it was about £200 plus i think £75 bva fees for both hips n elbows

When I had Rayden scored back in march/april time, Its was £90 for the BVA to hip and elbow score him, and around £200 for the vet to do the plates, but that included the GA etc.

Thanks folks that seems to make sense most of you are coming in around £200/£250 so I feel a bit more assured my vets not taking the Mick.

I think it was about 100 pounds to get Zara's hips scored... but that was about 6 years ago.
