Eye bogies

Just wondering, is it a known trait of the GSD to have regular eye bogies?

I'm asking because my OH's lab x has them daily, with no redness, swelling, itching or anything like that - just a nice blob of yellow every day.

Isla had one yesterday which is the first one I've seen on her and I bathed her eye with warm water and she was fine today. Being a typical over-protective Mum I suspected that she may have caught something from our other dog. But maybe just coincidence.

Mine have what I call "sleep" like your mum used to when you were little. With mine its just a bit of brown goop at the corner of the eye.

My oh does say it looks rather brutal when I am gouging it out of their eyes but it doesnt seem to bother them.

Olli regularly has 'sleep' in his eyes too, doesn't seem to bother him when I wipe his eyes and it's usually only on a morning it's there.

Jess and Leah both suffer with "eye gloop" and both are happy to come to me when i say"let me do your eyes" and let me pick it out.Leah inparticular gets red eyes in the summer months and the vet gives piriton, its an allergy she has but it never bothers her really.Shey hardly ever needs his eyes cleaning and kyla just needs new eyes altogether!!!

Yep the morning ritual of eye sleep removal, titon doesn't mind me getting my tissue in there to remove it but skye puts up a fight but thats just her age, Titon only gets it in one eye though.....and they both have it more so in the mornings but sometimes i spot a crusty when they've had a sleep mid afternoon.......

Think it's a normal thing

My two get it, I usually remove it first thing but sometimes in their excitment one or two have vanished then it`s a case of me looking to see where it landed... which is usually on either my arm or dressing gown

none of mine get it - maybe they have blocked drainage thats why they get them, but if yellow i would have tought that signified an infection

I only dog I had that used to get them was a dog with microphalmus (small/underdeveloped eye)
