Advice needed on a dog that's just had puppies that we have rescued

We have flown another gsd up from New South Wales. My friend is fostering her. The pound told us that she was surrendered due to her owner's medical condition (I suspect that is not the reason). She had her vet work done in the pound.

Now she's arrived it is very apparant that she may have just had pups. Her teats are huge. I've never bred a dog so - how big is normal? They are very visible from the side (I'll get a picture tomorrow). They're also much bigger than Addie's were and I'm not sure what is normal.

Sadly - she's another very skinny gsd - could this be due to having pups? You can put your hand easily over her hips - she's all bone.

She is going to our vets this week but as neither me or my friend have experience with a dog that has recently had puppies - should there be extra supplements we should be giving her?

A bit annoyed at the pound for not telling us but it's been a very busy few weeks for them. The currently have 105 cats and there are 20 dogs on the kill list for Tuesday.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks everyone.

can you purchase something similiar to Skinners puppy milk powder or Toplife puppy goats milk powder these can be mixed easily and will help the bitch gaining back her weight and replacing nutrients she has lost
re her meals give 4x small meals a day to help build her up and not overload her system
