Well just thought i'd update you on titon this morning, we woke to a sleepy dog but that's normal, we walked, we ate and he is now sleeping again.

No signs of discomfort or annoyance, or excess saliva from the mouth which is good! Still a mystery as to what it actually was but i guess i'l never know.

Thank-you to those who provided information and advice for me and my boy xx

Just a thought, but could he have come across the scent of a bitch in season?

Sometimes my boy used to lick where a bitch had pee'd, then roll his mouth around and chatter his teeth - like he was 'tasting' the pee!!! He also used to get excess saliva at the same time.

He also did it around spayed bitches, took him to my friends house and he followed her 'mature' rescue bitch around the garden when she was trying to find a place to pee - he had his nose stuck so close up her bum she almost peed on his nose!!

Male's are so strange .............

Sue

He is living with a bitch in season! So maybe that is it! He didnt show any interest in her though :/

If she was in the last few days of her season that would possibly account for it. My boy used to get really desperate when the bitch was in the last few days of a season, he used to get almost insane and start jumping up at me (I was the only female around), it was if he knew somehow that it was now or never! They must give off some hormones or something that lets the male know that they have to mate now. Even if he has not shown any interest in her before, the last few days of a season are so intense he probably realises what he has missed!

Maybe that would account for his depression as well - he realizes he has missed his chance of becoming a Daddy!

At least he is all better now - until the next time

He lost that ability 4-5 years ago!
But i guess the brain is still telling him what to do

Yeh she has got to be nearing the end of it now, it's got to have been 3 weeks already.......Oh yeh the next time at least it will be the last time!
