Nylabones

*waves*

Just a warning, Boris was at vet yesterday he's been under the weather, not himself, walking a bit hunched, I thought it was either his tum or I was terrified he'd hurt his back, there are certain conditions they're prone to.

Vet thinks it's pieces of nylabone he may have swallowed.

I know it says on the packet small pieces can be ingested, but I'm just warning you particularly for those of you have pups, to be careful

Mine will only get stag bars from now on, I'm also going to remind about rawhide, for those who may not realise, it's lethally dangerous + can kill your dog so please think twice about giving it

Hope Boris is feeling better soon poor boy.

I stopped giving raw hide chews about 10 years ago when my first GSD nearly choked on a piece, scared the life out of me but I managed to fish the piece out of his throat in time. Mine only ever get raw bones, antlers or hooves to chew on now.

Sorry to hear about Boris, Tracey

I know hide chews are potetially dangerous and Lukey doesn't touch his nyla bone. I'm ordering stag bar too.

Does Boris need an op/x ray or anything or do they expect it to pass through - the trouble is the nyla bone bits would be very hard I would think.

Oh poor Boris, hope he's better today, since Kira showed some food agression (a couple of years ago) I've never given mine nylabones or rawhide just incase there was any resource guarding.

What are the vets doing about? Have they given you anything to 'clear him out'?

Dempsey has a nylabone, and although it's a bit ragged, I've never noticed anything missing off it. I'll bear it in mind, though & keep an eye on it.

I don't give rawhide in any size, shape or form. Not worth the risk after I saw a dog choking on one at a dog show.

I recently read that these were dangerous so I won't be giving them to my dog. I learnt about stag bars from this forum and plan on giving those instead.

Thanks everyone, just wanted to warn you all.

Vet said it'll work its way through but if he didn't improve by Monday to take him back. Luckily he's much better + back to terrorising Tilly phew
