Lexis spay incision is scabby and a bit of pinky goo like blood

Hi,

Had a look at lexis incision tonight to see how it looked and its changed alot. The first day when i looked, it looked quite fresh and clean, now its gone what looks like dirty (but probably scabs, is it supposed to scab along the incision line?) but right in the iddle of the length of the incision there is a bit of pink coloured gooey, now i dont know if i would say its quite blood, because its not proper red, but im quite worried about it. We've tried like mad to keep her inactive, shes of course not been for walks, and have not let her up stairs or jumping up or playing but there has aswell been times when ive not jumped up quick enough if someones knocked at the door or a cats walked past the window shes jumped up a couple of times and stood with her front paws on window sill.

Is this uncommon and should we be going back to the vets tomorrow?
They did the stitching inside so no stitches are visible, and they said they glued the incision back together. But im worried now incase any of the internal stitches have come out, is the only way they can find out by opening her incision up again and having a look?

I know you're not vets but going to take a pic now and upload it might give you a better idea.

It looks pretty nasty to me, but i wouldn't know what a perfect incision after 3 days looks like either

Both ends of the incision line looks to be healing pretty good, the middle looks a bit moist, has she been licking that area? Plus if she has been jumping up, the middle of wounds will always be the area most compromised. They wouldn`t open her up to check her wound but they might give you a course of antibiotics to help with any potential infection. Is she not to go back for a wound check within the week? If in doubt give a shout, I`m sure your vets would give her a wound check to give you peace of mind.

I`d personally keep it clean and dry and observe for signs of the wound opening. But if it feels hot to touch and red to look at and green pus then I`d go to the vets.

I'm with Tracy too. Lukey was very good but it doesn't take many minutes of licking to start to soften the healing/scab and poss introduce infection.

Lukey didn't need ABs but just a couple of mins licking now and again delayed it which is why he ended up in a lampshade in the end.

agreed, just bath it in some luke warm water with a bit of vinigar added, it should kill any infection,... and watch it

I'd keep it dry + get some ABs from vet, Tilly had a little bit in the middle that took longer to heal, I'd be worried about infection though + she did have some ABs + it healed fine

And it's imperative she's not jumping about, as hard as it is to watch her all the time

Hi Guys

Just seen mikes post and looked at piccies, the middle hasnt healed as well as the edges but nothing major it is still stuck together and isnt pussy just a little moist.

I thought it was just normal

So should we take her to the vets? she said it looked good on Wednesday

Should I still take her for walks like the vet said to the end of the street and back up to 5 times a day, I took her three times yesterday

She seems to be bad to normal now doesnt even seem to feel it anymore isnt that a good sign?

God think me and mike should change our names to the worried & paranoid owners

Liz x
