Hi it does sound like she is coming into season lexi was about 7 months when she had her first one, but be careful lexi actually started to bleed first about 2 weeks before she went into a full season

We avoided busy doggy areas and used to taker out out on my old horses lunge line so she had room to run and play but she was still attached to me

There will be more blood and I have a beige carpet lol

Aww the wee soul. Belle came into season just before she turned 8mnths, Braeden gave the game away, he appeared to be unusally interested in her so I checked her out and noticed a spot of blood. Lucky for me Braedens beanbags are gone, but OH MY, the doggy porn which went on in my house for 2 1/2 weeks would shock you, and it was SHE who was the wee rascal

Yes, def sounds like it Fiona, I used to leash walk my springer just locally not in doggie spots like park or beach and also got some green tablets from the pet shop which were supposed to reduce odour??? although they worked out quite expensive over 3 weeks

I found my springer was messy in the first season but cleaned herself so well after that there was hardly a mark.

Eventually got her speyed when she was older (I couldn't face her operation - yes you read it right!)

She came into season at exactly 9 months and she is just about finished now thankfully!
Never used any pads she was very clean

Thanks for all the replies - that's why I love this forum

I'm still not totally convinced that she is in season - maybe she's 'pre-season' if there is such a thing?

There has been no more blood - I did use some kitchen towel on her yesterday and no evidence of blood whatsoever.

I quizzed Adrian my OH re the first lot of blood and he said it was more like watery blood, like a bloody discharge. My friend at work has a cocker spaniel who apparently bled 'proper' bright red blood during her season.

Sorry for all the gory details!

I'm still keeping her on a long line in the garden and leash walking for now anyway. She is her normal perky self and just wants to play!

Never saw any blood at all really with Sami but my sisters Lab always has quite a lot but it is just as you describe watery blood.

She could be preseason as you say and I mentioned on another forum that Sami used to be in season for over 6 weeks though she did end up being spayed because of it.

Unfortunately you are still going to have to be careful until you can be sure, we dont want any "accidents" do we!!!

Cool - thank you! Definitely dont want any accidents, I would never forgive myself. I happen to know that locally there is a young 40kg mastiff who is entire and very randy - he's even had a go at getting it on with Darwin! I dread to think of what might happen if he got his paws on Isla!
